A Long Update

26 11 2008

So, we’re extremely sorry that we couldn’t get all the updates done in time!

MacBooks

So let’s get back to the start of the MacBook Events, where 3 new products (MacBook Air revised) were released by Apple probably for the holiday season. The biggest change in the MacBooks was the use of the Aluminum Unibody, which essentially means that the casing is machined from one solid block of aluminum which fundamentally makes it stronger and more durable from everyday bumps.

The laptops have become significantly lighter, and are also more appealing to the user in terms of an LED Backlit display, which provides the “instant-on” which a student or businessman would need in those sticky situations.

iPhone Software + iTunes + Safari

The long awaited 2.2 has arrived! However, this update was merely a bug fix for most of us in other countries and the availability to see street views has also been added as a feature into Google Maps. A significant update was the downloadable podcasts on the fly feature, which we find excellent as we finally don’t have to rely on iTunes. Could a wireless syncing come in the future? We don’t know, what do you think?

iTunes has also been revised to 8.0.2, adding an update to iPod Nano. It has allowed the earphones with Mics to be used, and the turning off of cover flow while the Nano is rotated which I find a stupid function as you always have to rotate it back before it can be used. And Yes, Infinitech does own a Black 8GB Nano-Chromatic.

Safari has been pounded with security updates and stability updates to all users.

Apple Event a Success?

15 10 2008

by Ravenizer

Hey guys, its around 2.10 am where I live right now. We will be back with the updates of the Apple event later in the day. However, here is a quick recap on what was announced today and which rumours were proven true.

Firstly, the Brick process. It is indeed true that all the new MacBooks made from Aluminum all start out as a block. They are then anodized and treated and carved. This process however, is not new. It is the exact same procedure that was used to manufacture the MacBook Air.

The next two things announced were mainly the meat of the event. Firstly, Apple has ditched Intel integrated graphics. The new MacBooks all carry the NVDIA 9400 M cards. These perform up to 5 times faster than Intel’s Integrated Graphics.

The MacBook Pro turned out to be just like the spyshots we have been seeing. So are the new MacBooks. But more of this will be covered later. The Old MacBook is still stating though. New MacBook, Old Revised MacBook and New MacBook Pro ship today. All aluminum machines now have option to go SSD.

All new MacBooks have Glass Trackpads with the exception of the ‘Old’ MacBooks and the Air. This tracpad has no buttons, buy instead, is clickable to function as one button. It is multi-touch and supports up to 4-fingers for funtions. No screen is observable under the tracpad though.

The MacBook Air is getting a specification upgrade. I must say I am particularly not too happy with this announcement. The new Airs will have with them a 120GB HDD, and the new NVDIA Chips. Apple has also released a new DisplayConnector port dubbed Mini DisplayConnector. It replaces the micro-DVI port on the Air as well as Display ports on all the new MacBooks. This coupled with the new Graphics card, the Air can now drive a 30 inch display. It could only handle 24 inches before this revision. These new upgraded Airs are available in November. I think this revision came too early. Especially on the account of the NVDIA GPU. However, like still goes on.

Not discussed today were the iPhone OS Software 2.2 as well as further information on Snow Leopard. I have a feeling that Snow Leopard will be released during WWDC ’09. As for the iPhone OS, only time will tell.

So that is all the recap that we have for now on the Strictly Notebook Event. Was the event a success? Well, it felt pretty dry to me. But more on that later. Be sure to check INFINITECH’s homepage later for more updates.

We are nearly there…

There’s only gonna be one topic on the lips of the technoscenti in the next 24 hours: Apple’s new MacBook and MacBook Pro. It’s been leaked online, but mystery still surrounds its hidden connector, track-pad and docking skills… read on for all the gossip!

The new MacBook and MacBook Pros have leaked! The latest spy shots show the laptops sporting slick new aluminum cases, as well as side-mounted optical drives and expansion ports down their left side.

It’s these details that have led some to predict that the new laptops will be dockable inside brand new Apple monitors.

What’s more, the MacBook Pro features a mystery connector towards the front of its case.

What could it be? HDMI? eSATA for fast external hard drives? A docking connector for those rumoured monitors?

We’ve also heard rumours that the new portables will come with glass-covered multi-touch trackpads, and even Blu-Ray drives stashed inside.

Also, the much awaited 2.2 Update is expected to be released tomorrow as well.

Whatever surprises are in store, we’ll find out tomorrow when Apple formally unveils the new laptops. Until then, sit tight and let Infinitech do the news hunting for you!

1 MORE DAY.

Hey all,

We at Infinitech are sworn to get you the latest scoops on Apple rumors and product releases. 1 more day to the launch and the tension is mounting. What is confirmed is that the new notebooks are based on an NVIDIA chipset, which is a huge relief for all you gamers out there. They are also aluminum, and are NOT tapered like the MacBook Air.

As Ravenizer had mentioned, the Macbook Air is probably not going to get an update. I mean, how could Apple update a Notebook so early? People would just stop buying the Mac since it gets outdated way too quicklyt.

What we could also expect in the event, would be the release of the much awaited 2.2 Firmware for the iPhone (and iPod Touch?) With the fantastic new Emoji, and hopefully some improvements to the stability of the OS as well as the inclusion of 3G Radio TUning capabilities, this is the most anticipated FIrmware yet!

1 MORE DAY Ladies and Gentlemen!

Apple Event – October 14 2008

Hey all,

Just to wrap up on the past few weeks. The rumor mills have been churning out what they believe to be is the newest MacBook on the block. In this event, Apple is rumored to be releasing the new versions of the Macbook, Macbook Pro, and Macbook Air. The Macbook has the most noticeable material change, shifting from the scratchy, glossy plastic, to the rather eye-catching anodized aluminum. The Brick, was actually just a reference to the manufacturing process, where by the new Macbooks are carved by water and air jets out of a solid block of aluminum.

So Apple, sent out an invitation to press yesterday, here is how it looked like.

The invitation sent out to Media.

Apparently showing a 13″ screen, this is rumored to be the new Apple Macbook, that will be unveiled on October 14, at Apple’s Town Hall in Cupertino. The Macbook doesn’t appear to have tapered edges as previously expected. It now looks more like a part of the Apple Family. What do you think?

There were different variations of the invite sent out, and this was the clearest and sharpest of the lot. The New Apple price ranges are expected to take a dip, due to the crashing US Market. The Macbook is rumored to sell at $800 and the Macbook Pro at around $3000. This would largely increase the profit margins at Apple, and hopefully push up the share prices for Apple, which fell a whopping 9% last week.

These are the pictures of the rumored 13″ MacBook.

So there you have it, the New MacBook. Looks alot more like the MacBook Pro now. Now lets move on to the MacBook Pro, which is largely rumored not to have its design changed, as consumers are used to having the rather “expensive” feel of the laptop.

iPhone Tech Talk, World Tour

iPhone Tech Talk World Tour

iPhone Tech Talk World Tour

Don’t miss this unique opportunity. The event is free, but space is limited.

Apple technology evangelists and engineers will soon be traveling the globe bringing iPhone development expertise to a city near you. Learn about the tools and technologies you’ll use to create great iPhone applications, then work with the experts to optimize your code, refine your user interface, and apply the knowledge you gain from the sessions to enhance the capabilities of your iPhone application.

Finally, Apple has heard the cries of Developers around the world, who cannot afford to fly to the States to attend WWDC year after year. Having joined the Apple Developer Connection (there is a free membership), we received an email invitation to the event, and had to register our places in our island nation of Singapore. Most of the countries have already been fully booked! Thankfully though, not in our country. We will attempt to carry out a live-blogging session during the intro and provide insights that we have learnt during the event. Developing for the iPhone is a very exciting prospect and the Infinitech Team hopes to bring you ground-breaking applications and games to add to your arsenal.

Once again, sorry for the lack of updates.

Spotlight Event

Hey guys.

The infinitech Team would like to apologize for not bring able to update the blog in the past fornight. All of our writers have been extremely busy with acedemic examinations. But all those aside, the Rumor Mill is back, spinning faster than ever. It’s MacBook Week over at Apple Campus and the invites have been sent out. No, we are not going but we’ll definitely have the juicy details.

The story so far is that the entire MacBook line is going Aluminum. Snazzy I must say. The biggest targets thus far are the Macbooks and the Pro. Talks are going on about a possible Apple TV update but I’m not too sure. The eventual speculations of a wireless USB hub is also interesting. That would certainly add funtionality to the MacBook Air. Although one thing that I would question would be its source of electricity. Guys and Gals out there hoping for a more functional and cheaper MacBook Air will probably have to wait it out. Having only been released for less than a year, this is as improbable as Bill Gates becoming CEO of Apple. However, due to the nature of the Notebook, I do not think that they would make any major changes to the air. It really perfect the way it is. It fulfills all my requirements as a high-school student. And because its OS X, the Operating System is nicely optimized for the less-than-average processor. In fact, you cannot feel much difference when on the Air or on the normal MacBooks. Thus, expect a possible Capacity and Processor update in next year’s MacWorld Expo. Until then, its definitely a no-go.

On a different note, the Infinitech Team would be headed down to the iPhone Tech Talk World Tour in Singapore. It’ll be held on the 4th of November at the Songspore Convention Centre. Graphickz, Spikey and I have already booked out slots and eagerly await our confirmation. So yeah, we’ll be back with more news soon. Hang in there folks! Infinitech Is back at Full Capacity.

One last thing. We are going to skip the iPhone Review firstly because, hey, we all know its the Jesus Phone. Secondly, the team has been really busy and we could not find the time to do it earlier. We believe we have passed the deadline. So yeah…. sorry about that guys.
